Hitting the Ground Running

The first time I successfully made a batch of macarons I was so excited that I wanted to tell everyone.  My family, my friends that baked, my friends that didn't bake and had no idea what a macaron was - most of these people received a grainy photo of a pale colored macaron with a caption consisting entirely of exclamation points.  It caused a lot of confusion.

But after multiple batches of fail, either resulting in a colorful goopy mess or sad, cracked, footless 'roons, it was such an awesome feeling to finally pull something good out of my oven.  Since then, I've made far too many batches to count, some with normal safe flavors, and others that cross into the realm of "hmm, that's an interesting combination.  Maybe I should write that down."  So that's exactly what I'll do.

Over the next few weeks I will be making more of these little 'roons than I can probably manage for a holiday shindig, so I'll document what I can here.  I'm a terrible food photographer, my kitchen is a mess, and I'm sure I'll forget something along the way.

In the meantime, have a picture of a Toothless macaron.

I'll go over how I made these soon.  They're dragon fruit flavored!  Get it?
